Kenneth Chaiprasert, J.D., Ph.D., is a professor of political science and the faculty champion for the Pathway to Law School Program at East Los Angeles College (ELAC). He graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and History and went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Ph.D. in Political Science from UCI where he was also awarded a Pedagogical Fellowship and a Center for the Study of Democracy Fellowship. His research interests include Race and Ethnic Politics, especially the intergenerational political incorporation of immigrants and refugees. He teaches classes on American Politics, Comparative Politics, Research Methods, and Law and Democracy. Dr. Chaiprasert is currently a Vice Chair in the Social Sciences Department at ELAC and is active on various shared governance committees on campus including the Transfer Committee and Shared Governance Council. He co-chairs the Committee on Academic Freedom and Ethics and the Committee on Educational Program Identity. His main goal in life is to help his students gain the knowledge and skills that will help them succeed. A proud recipient of consecutive Transfer Champion awards at ELAC, Dr. Chaiprasert aspires every single day to expand his students’ educational horizons, a process which includes helping his students see how a law school education and law degree can help them become the awesome leaders that they are meant to be.
